Tobin Trautz joins the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Ice Hockey Club as the Head Coach after several years coaching at the NCAA, ACHA, EJHL, USPHL, ISL Prep, and USA Hockey levels. Trautz, originally from Maine, is the former Associate Head Coach at both the University of New England (NCAA ECAC DIII) and Colby College (NCAA NESCAC DIII). He also served as the Head Coach at the University of Maine (ACHA DI). Trautz just completed his 17th season behind the bench, first with the 49ers, leading them to the program's first, record breaking, ACCHL Championship.
Tyler LaShomb joined the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Ice Hockey Club team as the Associate Head Coach during the 2017-2018 season. LaShomb, originally from Northern New York, played college hockey at SUNY Oswego before embarking in his coaching career. He started as a volunteer assistant coach and Game Day Operations Director for SUNY Oswego's D1 Club Hockey team before moving to Charlotte. He then was approached by Tobin Trautz to serve as his assistant coach during the 2016-2017 year for the Charlotte Jr Checkers 18UAA team. Coach Lashomb also is also involved in USA Hockey District and National Camps. LaShomb currently oversees the Hockey Department at the Extreme Ice Center, the Home rink for your Charlotte Forty Niners.
Greg grew up in suburban NY as a Rangers fan and has been watching hockey for over 30 years. His passion for the game led to him playing in net for 15 years and coached youth hockey for 10. He studied at Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in broadcast journalism. He is currently the head writer for Prednecknation.com and contributes to Prednecknation Radio, discussing all things Nashville Predators and around the NHL.
